SOUTH AFRICA: 4ward-design recently completed an A/V installation at the African Pride 15 On Orange Hotel in Cape Town. The project took six weeks to complete, and covered the hotel’s lower ground floor banquet hall, two conference rooms, boardrooms, and an additional meeting room.
Installation supplier iLed supplied the APart gear, whilst Pansolutions supplied all Panasonic Projectors. Tauropa provided the Samsung Professional display panels, and Electrosonic supplied all Kramer equipment. 4ward-design completed the installation, programming and provided the after sales service.
The banquet hall now benefits from an A/V system comprising equipment from APart, Kramer, Shure and Panasonic. A total of 24 white APart CM6E two-way speakers have been positioned throughout the hall, as has a PM1122 pre-amplifier, two PM1122RL remote controls, a PA240P power amplifier and four Champ-1 stereo power amps. A Shure SM58 wireless microphone system was also installed.
Kramer equipment was selected for switching and routing, comprising VP-200AK and a VP-6XIN audio distribution amplifiers, a VP-4x4K audio matrix, 10 VP-210XL amps with loop outputs, and four WXA-1 stereo audio patches. Equipment from Panasonic made up the display element of the install.
APart and Shure gear was installed throughout the additional conference rooms, boardrooms and meeting room, as were Plasma monitors and stereo speakers from Panasonic, and audio patches and matrixes from Kramer.
‘The client was very clear on what they required and had a very hands on approach during the design and build phase,’ said 4ward-design founder and managing member Darryl Katz. ‘The equipment selected offered high quality audio, is simple to control and robust in build.
‘The main challenge was the project deadline as all contractors were chasing the same deadline and dovetailing with the other sub-contractors, therefore completing our services required some gymnastics,’ he furthered.
‘However, this was one of the easiest system handovers to a client that we have experienced,’ he enthused. ‘The system is so simple and robust in nature that the training of the banqueting staff was short and straightforward.’
