Aesthetix opens Doha office

QATAR: Systems integrator Aesthetix has expanded its operations in the Middle East by opening a new office in Doha. The company is looking to target the infrastructure work that is taking place in the country in the build up to the 2022 World Cup.

The office was opened as a result of Aesthetix winning a contract for the new Intercontinental. ‘We were attracted to the market because they are going to build an entire new city there. It is like Dubai was maybe 10 or 15 years ago,’ said Aesthetix director Siby John. ‘There is a lot of infrastructure work in terms of structured cabling or security A/V. We get a lot of enquiries from Doha, there is a market there, and there are fewer players involved.’

The new office is in the Sofitel business complex in the old downtown area of Doha. ‘It is only a small office to begin with, there are five people there at the moment – we need at least 25 people to be there,’ added Mr John. ‘I am planning to shift the majority of people from Dubai to there. With the people sitting here at the moment the majority of the work they are doing is for Doha, so it makes sense for them to be there.’ While the company is looking to move staff from to Doha, it will still maintain a presence in the UAE. ‘We will definitely keep the Dubai office, but scale it back,’ confirmed Mr John.

One of the new recruits for the Doha office is George Hakim, who formerly the technical manager at Modern Home. According to Mr John, some of the key factors in his appointment have been his knowledge of the local market and his knowledge of Arabic.

The expansion plans at Aesthetix do not stop with Qatar. Following the opening of the Doha office, the company will also look at opportunities in Saudi Arabia including the possibility of opening an office to target that market too.
