Airstar delivers custom Pixocom balloons for Qatar National Day

QATAR: Celebrations for Qatar National Day were supported with the deployment of Pixocom balloons from French manufacturer Airstar. Taking place just outside of Doha, Airstar Dubai was in charge of lighting the area under the responsibility of Marcin Michna.
Mr Michna didn't want to use a traditional projector solution and so to guarantee night visibility for the audience, 60 Pixocom balloons measuring 3m wide and a further 30 2m-wide balloons were arranged to provide ‘natural yet subdued light’. All of the balloons were fixed on 3.5m and 4.5m high poles, and positioned with 'centimetre' precision by the Airstar teams, the goal of which was to make the lighting spheres appear as if they were ‘floating in the Qatari desert’.
Robust envelopes were especially made for the occasion that were also capable of filtering most of the dust and sand in the air. All of the balloons required a permanent flow of air in order to minimise the wind surface area, and the air that pulsed inside the balloons was also filtered beforehand to keep them fully operational.
