Al Arabiya purchases Vista 9

UAE: MBC’s Dubai-based news channel Al Arabiya has purchased a Studer Vista 9 console as part of its studio upgrade. The new desk was bought through local Harman representative GSL.
‘It was a nice sale from our side, we’re very happy with it,’ said GSL sales manager Glen Kershaw. The mixer will be installed in the coming weeks prior to a Studer engineer visiting the broadcaster for commissioning and training.
‘The wheels are in motion thanks to this first sale, and thankfully Studer have really put their hands together and made it happen,’ continued Mr Kershaw. ‘They’ve all been very helpful in getting everything sorted. Usually we need to give six to eight weeks notice to get an engineer over, but they said they would accommodate my request. It’s the support that we need from Harman.’
Following this first sale to the broadcaster, Mr Kershaw is hopeful of a good deal of repeat business with other parts of the organisation. He particularly feels the manufacturer’s OnAir series of consoles would be a good fit for MBC’s radio operations and believes there will be future sales in this area.
The significance of the deal for future business with other broadcasters in the region is also an important factor for the distributor. ‘It’s good to have this reference,’ noted Mr Kershaw. ‘I think that now a lot of the broadcasting stations around the region have got to that point where their consoles are becoming eight to 10 years old, so other stations are looking at Studer too. I think it will be a good year for broadcasting.’
