Al Matbouli supplies King Abdul Aziz University with new AV system

SAUDI ARABIA: Al Matbouli Sound and Communications has supplied King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah with a complete A/V system for its faculty of economics meeting room. The project involved audio, video and control systems.

The audio installation was separated into two parts – the audio system and the wireless conference system. However, both of these systems were made up entirely of equipment from TOA. For the conferencing system Al Matbouli’s systems engineer Eng Ayman Mohammed Thabet opted for the TOA TS-800 series. The system consists of 17 of the TS-802CE delegate units plus the TS-801CE chairman unit. Each of the stations was equipped with a TS-904CE gooseneck microphone. Completing the conferencing system was the TS-800CE amp, four TS-905CE infra red transceiver units and a YW-1024 signal distributor.

For Mr Thabet, the most challenging part of the installation was the infra red transceiver units of the ceiling of the room. ‘We were afraid that we could not completely cover the whole room. However, by applying the TOA recommendation we were able to do this and it works excellently.’

Reinforcement for the room comes from four TOA F-2322C full range ceiling speakers, supported by an HB-1 sub. Power comes from two A-1724 240W amps and EQ is provided by an E-1231 graphic equaliser. This part of the system also includes two WM-4220 wireless mics and WT-5800 64-channel wireless receiver tuner.

The video system consists of scalers and switchers from Extron with a Sanyo projector and motorised screen. Control for the A/V solution comes from Crestron, and Mr Thabet is particularly keen to highlight the Crestron TPS-6X touch screen, which was used for control of the projector, motorised screen, system volume, projector and LCD lifts, as well as the video conference codec and its camera.
