SAUDI ARABIA: Al Matbouli has won the contract for the public address system at Al-Rajhi University. The design for the new system is based around the TOA SX-2000 system as the core of the PA.
The heart of the system will include 10 SX-2000AO audio output units to cover 80 zones. Further to this four SX-2000AI audio inputs and four SX-2000RM remote microphones to control and cover 69 zones. These zones make up the male college building, female college building and mixed building.
For the campus-wide PA, 1,300 TOA PC-1869 ceiling speakers, 30 PC-5CL weatherproof units and 130 BS-1034 wall-mounted cabinets will be used. Power is via 36 240W amplifiers with a further 10 420W amps. The system has been designed by technical designer Ahmed Soliman and the team leader for the project is Ayman Thabet.
The main challenge for the design is the distance between buildings. To overcome this, Al Matbouli will use multimode fibre optic cabling on a dedicated network with EDS-405A-MM-SC and EDS-407A-MM-SC MOXA switches.
The design is also taking the future expansion of the campus into account. The SX-2000 can be expanded to 256 zones, which means any extra buildings can be added to the system.
