Audac covers Khalifa International Stadium

UAE: Al Ain Sports Club has installed an IP-65-rated Audac speaker system to cover the Khalifa International Stadium. The outdoor solution was purchased through the Belgian manufacturer’s local distributor, Echo Beats.

The 16,000-seat multi-purpose facility can host football matches as well as athletics meetings and was a venue for the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championships and the 1996 AFC Asian Cup. Having been used in these high-profile events, there was already a solution in place to cover the seating area, but Al Ain Sports Club decided the time had come to replace this with a new system.

Echo Beats sent a team of engineers to the site to assess the stadium’s needs and the condition of the existing solution. Following this site visit, the distributor concluded that most of the equipment was still in good working order so all that would be needed was new IP-65-rated speakers.

The distributor opted for Audac HS-208T MK2 8-inch two-way horn projectors to cover the stadium. All 12 of the horns have been installed into the main grandstand. Six have been fitted to the top of the grandstand and fire over the pitch to the seating area opposite.

The remaining six have been installed at the front of the grandstand and fire up through the seating area. They have been limited using the existing DSP due to the short distance between the horns and the front rows of seating.

The installation itself was a fairly simple process. The original amplifiers were repaired and the new speakers connected via the DSP to provide a weatherproof solution that covered the desired area.
