AV Tech returns to State Mosque

QATAR: Doha-based systems integrator, AV Tech, has returned to the Qatar State Mosque to upgrade the audio systems to the perimeter and minaret, as well as the main and ladies prayer halls. The company was responsible for the initial installation of audio and video equipment in the mosque in 2010.
The systems integrator has used equipment from American brands, Community Professional, QSC and Meyer Sound for the project. According to AV Tech the new equipment has delivered ‘a dramatic improvement to the mosque sound quality and flexibility’.
The initial part of the installation saw AV Tech use Community Professional speakers to cover the perimeter of the mosque and the minaret. It supplied and installed 22 R5HPT three-way, horn loaded triaxial speakers on the four perimeter sides plus a further two R2-52Z to reinforce the minaret speakers. Power for these speakers is courtesy of six ‘heavy duty’ QSC amplifiers. According to AV Tech, the new system now provides ‘a powerful sound reaching more than a mile around the heart of Doha and the business district.’
The second part of the project has seen an upgrade to the main and ladies prayer halls. In these areas the company has reinforced the existing system with more than three dozen Meyer Sound MM4XPD speakers. The installer has used the self-powered, directional speakers to cover specific areas of the two prayer halls. AV Tech notes that the additional speakers provide ‘excellent sound clarity, power and reach in all corners of the holy surrounding’.
The system in this section of the project has been tuned and configured to achieve its maximum performance using the main Yamaha DSP from the original installation.
