NIGERIA: Three Avid Venue consoles have been put to use for the MTN Project Fame gala opening ceremony in the Expo Hall at the Eko Hotel, Lagos Nigeria. Two of the consoles are installed permanently in the Expo Hall, while the third one was provided by ET-Quake Multimedia Nigeria for the show.
Olawumi Alabi mixed FOH using a Venue Profile system, monitors were mixed on a Venue SC48 by Anu Oluwapo and a second Venue SC48 was in use for broadcast and recording with Emeka Michael taking mixing duties.
‘Coming from analogue console my first impression was: a breeze, easy to use and I was already mixing after an hour,’ said ETQuake’s Emeka Michael. ‘The Venue's integration to ProTools is just an absolute advantage especially with the SC48 using a single firewire cable to capture 18 tracks.’
‘Expo Hall at the Eko Hotel is the main place for live shows in Lagos, seeing the international technical riders Venue was their first choice,’ added Avid live sound manager Mathieu Rouxel. ‘We have more and more demands for live recordings and we are always working on expanding our ProTools connectivity with regular updates.’
