LEBANON: Avid and its partners MediaCast, Electra AV and Omnisystems recently hosted a special workflow demonstration of Media Composer, Blackmagic Design cameras, DaVinci Resolve and Pro Tools in one workflow. The event took place at the Hilton Habtoor Grand Hotel in Beirut.
The workshop discussed postproduction workflows for story making, grading and sound design with the aim of showing how the manufacturers’ latest solutions can help users simplify production and accelerate workflows. The event attracted 110 attendees comprised of editors from the major broadcast stations and post-houses, as well as audio engineers and heads of university audio and video departments. It also provided the launch pad for Avid’s Arabic Media Editors community.
The event also served as a local introduction to Avid Everywhere, something Electra AV was particularly keen to highlight. ‘Even Avid doesn’t realise how important Avid Everywhere is for the Middle East, where travelling is not only limited by the budget but also by political borders,’ noted Jean Gibran, Venue product manager-system engineer at Electra AV.
This event followed a tour by Avid around some of Lebanon’s universities. The manufacturer, along with Electra AV and Omnisystems visited 120 students at NDU, Antonine University, USJ, Alba and Lau. At each site, students were introduced to Media Composer and Pro Tools in workshops led by Deepraj Sandhar and Sreejesh Nair.
‘Epic guy Sreejesh! The presentation was really interesting and humorous,’ said Alba student Magali Sawma. ‘I learned a lot about pro-tools in one hour.’
