Avid hosts Cabsat training sessions

UAE: Avid was the headline sponsor of the postproduction training sessions at the recent Cabsat trade show in Dubai. The manufacturer also used the event to host a two-hour demo session on Media Composer’s creative editorial techniques.
Avid video solution specialist, Deepraj Sandhar, showed Media Composer’s latest features, highlighting cloud collaboration and the Avid MediaCentral Platform. Following this, Avid was joined by two guests, Jenane Mandour, production division director at Talpa Middle East, and Gabriel Deek, the general manager at Omnisystems, Avid’s video partner based out of Lebanon. The pair were invited to discuss the Avid technology that goes into the post production process of TV show, The Voice.
Both the Avid demo and the guest speaking session ignited questions and debates with the attendees. Paricipants were curious to see how a show such as The Voice with a very demanding workflow and long production and postproduction process can go to air in such a short turnaround time and with extensive footage and editorial requirements.
The sessions were well attended, with more than 20 attendees at the two day training and a balanced mix of working professionals and students. Avid was happy to support this new initiative as it has been investing heavily in the postproduction market in the region and has been becoming more involved with educational facilities and the editing community in the Middle East.
‘It was a great experience for me to come to Cabsat this year and be able to talk through all the great work we have been doing on The Voice, sharing our knowledge with people so eager to learn what it takes to produce such TV shows in the Middle East, which really wouldn’t have been possible had we not been working on Avid. I would definitely come again next year,’ said Jenane Mandour.
