Avolites controls The Act

UAE: An Avolites Sapphire Touch lighting console has been installed to control the diverse array of fixtures at Dubai theatre and dining venue, The Act. The desk was installed by Imagine Audio Visual and supplied by Procom Middle East.
‘The brief was to create a brand new performance space which appears to be 100 years old, and yet still gives the LD creative choices to light the specialty acts that come through the venue’, said Imagine Audio Visual technical director, James Field. ‘There are about 100 fixtures in the patch including everything from Martin Macs and Atomics, through to custom made retrofitted antique chandeliers and strings of incandescent festoon bulbs.
‘The Sapphire Touch was a clear choice for us due to its versatility,’ continued Mr Field. ‘We use a lot of theatre style cue stacks for the cabaret show, and the ease of programming allows us to tech new numbers quickly and efficiently. Conversely, in the late hours the venue progresses into a club, and this is where the two touchscreens, 45 faders and newly improved shape generator in Titan v9 gives the lighting operator superior live control for busking. In addition, the owners of The Act already have Avolites consoles in their other venues, making it a wise addition to keep the flexibly in the utilisation of the consoles between venues.’

It joins other high-level clients who are opting for the sapphire console such as Emirates Palace and Dubai Media Incorporated.’
