SAUDI ARABIA: Jeddah-based event production company Bright Star recently designed, produced and installed the sound, projection, trussing, staging, lighting and graphics and music for the Makkah Awards for Excellence.
The event, held at the Hilton Hall of the Jeddah Hilton hotel, saw the company create the largest Milos trussing installation in the Middle East to date. The 18m diameter circular stage for the event was extended on two sides, making it a total of 29m in length and 15m deep, with seating in front extending to almost 270-degrees around the space. The whole presentation area was surrounded by a 50m circular truss, which was supported by 12 ground supported towers. The stage setup used equipment from Milos’ MT2 range as well as its QuickTruss M390L and XStages S8W products.
A 360-degree projection screen was attached to the circular truss and the truss trimmed at 8.5m high – the highest possible position with the ceiling height of the room. Firing onto this screen were 20 Christie S+20K projectors, while the graphics were operated via Dataton’s Watchout. For the audio side of the project, Bright Star relied on JBL line arrays. And it turned to equipment from Avolites, Griven, and SGM for the lighting. The graphics and the music for the event were created in France having been specifically commissioned for the Awards.
The installation was designed by Hattan Madani, who was also Bright Star’s site and project manager for the event. The site build took the company’s team of riggers plus local crew four days to complete.
