Chris Brown uses VTX in Dubai

UAE: Chris Brown put JBL’s VTX system to use for his recent concert in Dubai. The sound system was supplied by local rental company Showtech, which earlier in 2012 became the first company to purchase JBL’s new large format system in the GCC.
The show took place in front of Dubai’s Meydan Hotel and racecourse as part of Alchemy Projects’ Atelier series of concerts. The initial Atelier Festival in October was also covered by the company and featured performances from artists such as 50 Cent, Craig David, Eva Simmons, Duffy, and Ciara.
To cover the area, Showtech called on 24 of its VTX V25 cabinets plus 16 VTX S28 subs for low end. The cabinets were originally purchased through local Harman distributor GSL, and sales manager Glen Kershaw is particularly happy to see the speakers put to use for high-profile events such as this. ‘When Showtech first purchased VTX, we said it would bring more attention to their overall inventory and provide larger opportunities for upcoming concerts. I think its use for the Atelier Festival has gone a long way towards proving this,’ he explained.
‘I think the system was a great fit for Chris Brown and sounded amazing,’ continued Mr Kershaw. ‘While I would have liked it to be louder, which was obviously held back due to reverb off the hotel in front, I felt VTX produced a very clean and crisp natural sound for the concert, and the subs were just unbelievable. This has been a fantastic platform for Showtech to show exactly what its VTX can do.’
