UAE: HQ Creative engaged Delta Sound to provide a complete audio system for the Hamdan International Photography Awards (HIPA) ceremony. The presentation took place at The Gate in DIFC under the patronage and presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The entrance to the event had a jazz theme with musicians performing in pairs inside pods in the arrival area. Delta supplied the musicians with Sennheiser G3s with a helical antenna array as IEMs enabling them to wander around the entire area. The mic package for the musicians included Shure Beta 98s, Shure SM57s, Neumann KM184, as well as BSS AR133 DIs. The speakers to cover the arrival area were HK Audio CT 112s.
The event also featured a piece to track by the Human Orchestra. They performed with a mixture of DPA D: Fine jawlines with Sennheiser EW 500 beltpacks and Sennheiser EW 500 handhelds with 935 capsules. The IEMs used for this portion of the show were 30 Sennheiser G1s.
For the presentation itself, the lectern microphones were Schoeps CMC6U pre amps with MK41 capsules, S 250 C goosenecks and B5D pop screens. The main PA comprised of 12 L-Acoustics V-Doscs and four of the manufacturer’s SB218 subs. Eight HK Audio CT 112s were put to use as delay speakers, while a pair of CT 108s provided front fill. Power for the system was courtesy of L-Acoustics LA24 and LA48 amps, while loudspeaker management was through XTA 448 processors. Two DiGiCo consoles were put to use for the ceremony. An SD9 was used for monitors while FOH had an SD7.
Pro Tools provided the multi-track playback. Time code distribution was a Brainstorm SR-26 and synchronisation for the Pro Tools was a Sync HD and a Rosendahl mif4. A Lexicon PCM96 provided the reverb. Walk up stings were from a 360 Instant Replay.
