Delta covers Neil Finn and Man City

UAE: Delta Sound has recently supplied equipment and crew to both Neil Finn’s concert in Dubai and the Manchester City exhibition match in Al Ain.
Neil Finn made his Dubai debut as part of the Dizzy Heights Tour 2014. Done Events organised the event at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium, selecting Delta as the audio supplier. Following a site visit Delta’s project manager Al Woods designed the system using L-Acoustics Sound Vision software.
The system consisted of six K1 and four Kara downfills per side, three Kudo ground stacked on stage plus two stacks of two dV-dosc as a front fill. ‘Finn’s production requested an L-Acoustics system and they were happy with my design,’ explained Mr Woods. ‘It looks like a bit of an overkill but the main PA was about 3m downstage of the front of stage so we needed the weight and coverage. Although nine Kudo flown per side as out fills were initially in the design, the venue lay out didn’t warrant them in the end.’
The whole system was driven by LA8 amplifiers and controlled by LA Network Manager. The system as a whole was matrixed, timed and equalised by a Meyer Sound Galileo 616.
A full control package was also provided by Delta Sound. At FOH an Avid Profile with a Waves 9 package was put to use, while the monitor system was a Yamaha PM5D. The onstage monitors comprised of 14 L-Acoustics 115XT speakers driven again by LA8s. Delta supplied a Sennheiser G3 system for IEM.
Although most of the microphone package was provided by the touring production, Delta provided a few mics, a 72 way split system and all the cables.
‘It’s a nice venue to work in, the PA didn’t have to throw too far and access was pretty easy. The touring production left happy as did the crowd, Job Done!” reasoned Mr Woods.
The second event saw Delta contracted by WRG Abu Dhabi to supply audio control and communications for the exhibition match between Al Ain FC and Manchester City at the new Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain.
The control package consisted of a DiGiCo SD8 digital mixing console with rack, a Sennheiser 2050 IEM system and Sennheiser 5000 series handheld microphones. The communication package included Clear-Com helixnet digital comms units as well as 45 Motorola GP340 radios also linked to the show comms units.
‘The most challenging element of the set up was to integrate to the house PA system with our control package. The event control was located on a lower floor than the venue event control room,’ said Delta project manager Craig Harvey. ‘The event went fantastically smooth. There was a huge atmosphere at the stadium and the match itself was a great exhibition. It took some real teamwork to bring the show together and I think that the show delivered really met if not exceeded everyone’s expectations. A big well done to everyone involved and thanks to the stadium for bringing us in to their team.’
