Delta supplies Byblos

LEBANON: Dubai-based rental house, Delta Sound, has supplied audio equipment for the Byblos International Festival in Jbeil. This is the fifth year in a row that Buzz Productions has called on Delta as the main audio supplier.
The audio package supplied this year differed slightly from the previous years. Twenty-four L-Acoustics Kudo boxes were installed as the main PA, and 24 dV-Dosc took care of front-fill, centre-fill and out-fill duties. Twenty SB218’s in an arc configuration were adopted for the festival to provide sub coverage for the outdoor venue. The amount of subs used varied, depending on the specific needs of the artists and the genre of show.
Stage monitoring was made up of 16 L-Acoustics 115XT HiQ cabinets, four Arcs and four SB218 as side-fills, with a couple of DV subs used as drum and bass fills. An eight-way Sennheiser 2050 IEM system was also part of the monitor system giving the engineers a full spectrum of audio to offer the touring artists. All of the speaker elements were driven by L-Acoustics LA48 and LA8 amplifiers.
Control systems for both FOH and monitors, had been carefully implemented to accommodate the artist requirements. Although most touring productions are now digital, Delta supplied both digital and analogue packages. These included a pair of Avid Profile consoles, a DiGiCo SD8, a Yamaha PM5D-RH and finally a Midas H3000 analogue console.
Outboard gear had several elements such as BSS, dbx, KT compressors and EQs. Avalon valve comps, ELX Distressors and Midas XL42 pre amps along with Lexicon, Yamaha and TC electronics FX units.
Control of the system was done using a combination of XTAs and a Meyer Sound Galileo management system. All of the units were networked back to FOH to give each artist complete control over the individual components. Playback was taken care of using TASCAM CD/Media players and recorders.
‘All in all, this being our fifth year, we are very happy to be part of this festival,’ said Rob Eatock, Delta’s project manager for the event. ‘The diverse genres are both refreshing and a pleasure to watch as I’m sure the 20,000 plus concert goers would agree!’
