Dubai World Trade Centre opts for LTM hoists

UAE:Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has invested in 40 500kg Cat-A LoadGuard hoists from Lift Turn Move (LTM). These have been added to the in-house hoist fleet now standing at over 120 chain hoists.

DWTC are keen to excel in all matters of venue safety, and the LoadGuard hoists supplied by LTM are reportedly just one of the measures it felt was required to move forwards.

‘I have known the guys from LTM for years and I trust their opinion on rigging and lifting,’ commented DWTC rigging manager Matt Kirby. ‘We’ve bought hoists from local suppliers in the past, but we felt the LoadGuard offered by LTM was the best way to push the site forward in terms of safety. LTM delivered the hoists and Guardian Hoist Controllers in super fast time as we needed the new hoists for the Dubai International Motor Show,’ he continued. ‘Over 700 load points needed to be rigged throughout five halls so it’s been a really busy period for us. Having the new hoists helps as they are really small in weight and due to the specifiation we no longer need to rig secondary safeties, which saves a lot of time for us and our customers.’

LTM offered a two day LoadGuard maintenance training school as part of the investment, which was well received by the Trade Centre crew. ‘ The LoadGuard is different from what the guys are used to, so the inclusion of a two day LoadGuard Motor School at DWTC (tutored by LTM technical manager Dave Ward) was of real benefit to the 11 strong in-house rigging crew,’ continued Mr Kirby. ‘It gave us the confidence in a new product and the support a venue like ours requires. We are now looking at a 1 ton LoadGuard for early next year as we feel it is a really great venue hoist.’
