Eclipse covers Kuwait National Day festivities

KUWAIT: Eclipse Staging Services provided sound and laser solutions for the Kuwait National Day celebrations at the end of February. Eclipse was commissioned by Laser Systems Europe to cover the festivities, and relied on audio from L-Acoustics and Funktion One.

Eclipse provided sound at the Kuwait Corniche. The system was required to cover an area measuring 400m long and 100m wide at the base of the Kuwait Towers. ‘We originally set out to have three hangs of 10 V-Dosc and a further six hangs of six dV-Dosc,’ explained project manager Duncan Shortt. ‘However, there were some problems with the tower placement which meant we had to rethink everything. We ended up with a hang more than we were planning so we had to juggle amps and motors to fly it all.’

The final solution comprised three hangs of eight V-Dosc plus a further hang of six as well as six hangs of six dV-Doscs and Funktion One subs providing the low end. ‘We needed to cover more space, and that seemed to be the best way to go about it,’ explained Mr Shortt. Power came from a combination of L-Acoustics Pad 4s, LA48s, LA4s and LA8s with the Funktion One subs powered by Quest 4004s. Eclipse engaged Delta Sound to manage and combine the L-Acoustics line array systems, which were a combination of Eclipse’s and Delta’s cabinets.

Eclipse also provided a 25W RRGBY Coherent Taipan laser. The laser is a combination of two red, green, blue and yellow diode lasers combined to give 25W of pure white and multiple coloured laser effects.

‘It was a good show, the end result was very good and the client was happy,’ said Mr Shortt. The event was the 50th National day for the country and also coincided with 20 years of liberation from Iraq, and five years of Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah in power.
