Eighteen Sound opens Loudspeaker Lyceum resource area

WORLD: As part of its commitment to the science and physics of audio, Italian manufacturer Eighteen Sound has launched an ‘ongoing, dynamic video and text resource area dedicated to loudspeakers’. The new section of the website hosts a series of dynamic educational videos along with informative materials on topics pertaining to loudspeakers.
‘At Eighteen Sound we believe that sharing information is the essence of growth and common purpose,’ explained manager Jeffrey Cox. ‘These videos, which will be an ongoing effort, represent our commitment and contribution to furthering audio education in the industry.’
Named the Loudspeaker Lyceum, the manufacturer’s R&D manager, Steve Hutt, will conduct video presentations on a variety of topics relevant to transducer/loudspeaker design, manufacture, behaviour and terminology. The short videos reportedly aim to simplify understanding and allow the viewer the opportunity to revisit prior topics, or for newcomers, provide focused presentations on topics of interest.
At the time of writing, there are currently two videos on the Loudspeaker Lyceum. An introductory video on the Definition of a Loudspeaker, and the first chapter entitled The Moving Parts. The manufacturer promises more chapters for the series shortly.
‘We are working on this series of videos with individual components rolled out on a monthly basis,’ added Mr Cox. ‘These first two videos start at the beginning of terminology and will progress to become what we believe will be an incredible resource to people in all stages and formats of the audio community.’
