Erkan Altinok invests in RME

TURKEY: Renowned Turkish sound editor, sound designer, re-recording mixer and film mixing engineer, Erkan Altinok, has refreshed his studio setup, calling on products from RME. The project was handled by BL Muzik.

Mr Altinok approached BL Muzik to assist him in building a recording and mixing studio that met his demands. Sound quality was paramount, but Mr Altinok was also specific about the integration of his analogue mixing console and a Pro Tools-based system into a flexible and expandable setup. To meet this need, BL Muzik suggested a Madi-based solution with RME converters at all critical points.

The resulting design sees three RME converters handle all AD/DA and format conversion. An RME M-32 DA converter feeds the 24 channel SPL Neo console from the Madi output of the Pro Tools-equipped DAW. Main tracking relies on the AD section of an ADI-8 QS (with an i64 Madi card), while the QS’s DA section supplies the 5.1 monitor speakers. Additional digital equipment with AES/EBU connections, like reverbs, is connected to an ADI-642 that handles the integration of these signals into the Madi backbone.

Following the studio upgrade, Mr Altinok is reportedly very happy with the results.
