Evolution 6 debuts at Provocateur Dubai

UAE: Provocateur Dubai is the site for the world’s first Funktion One Evolution 6 installation. The first four cabinets off the production line have been installed by local distributor, Em-Tec, to provide the reinforcement for the new venue in the Four Seasons hotel.
‘The client had used Funktion One in many venues and for Provocateur he wanted something special,’ said Em-Tec general manager, Andy Williams. ‘The whole venue was developed around the sound, it was the number one priority.’
‘The client asked if anything new was coming out from Funktion One and we knew the Evo 6 was on its way,’ added Em-Tec CEO, Alex Bracken. ‘We asked if we could get some for a certain date and Funktion One did everything they could to deliver.’
With a capacity of around 500, the club itself is not a large space. As such, only four of the new speakers were required to cover the venue. The Evo 6 cabinets have been installed in each corner with four F1201 speakers providing fill by the bar and behind the DJ booth. Low end is via a pair of F121s installed into the DJ booth with a further two BR121s. Power for the system is from the manufacturer’s E15, E25, F60Q and E100Q amplifiers with control from an XO4.
While providing something new to the client was important, the solution also needed to be correct for the space. ‘It was the right speaker for the right job, he wanted a big sound in the venue and that’s what we have given him,’ noted Mr Williams. ‘It’s an amazing sounding speaker, to get that level of sound pressure from that sized box is quite an achievement. The way that axe head has been designed, it really does punch that sound out.’
Having completed the first installation and thoroughly tested the new cabinets, the team from Em-Tec are clearly very impressed with what they’ve heard. ‘It’s a proper Funktion One speaker,’ said Mr Bracken. ‘It’s a big, powerful system for the size of box. With the Evolution 6, Funktion One have taken it up a notch. You’re getting more power from smaller boxes, which is what club owners want.’
