Harris appoints country manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan

MESA: Harris has appointed Sheeraz Adil as country manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan to expand its Middle East and South Asia team. This is the first time Harris Broadcast Communications has appointed locally-based personnel to oversee the operations of these two countries. Mr Adil will have the responsibility for driving growth in both countries through the implementation of sales and support strategies in the region.

Mr Adil comes to Harris from Geo TV – the largest media group in Pakistan – where he headed up the broadcast IT and operations department for the broadcaster. Initially he worked in Geo TV’s Dubai facility before migrating the station to its current home in Karachi. Harris describes Mr Adil as having ‘a wealth of expertise in broadcast system design and was a key proponent for the implementation of automated file-based server solutions at Geo News’.

The new country manager will oversee the strategic direction of the broadcast business in Pakistan and Afghanistan. His responsibilities include continuing to build the company’s broadcast operation and optimising routes to market.

‘Following on from the creation of the MESA business region two years ago we have continued to place high importance on supporting our customer’s across this vast geography – and the appointment of Sheeraz to head up Pakistan and Afghanistan underscores our commitment to the region,’ said Said Bacho, vice president sales and service, Middle East and South Asia for Harris Broadcast Communications. ‘Sheeraz’s experience of working within a broadcast facility and his understanding of file-based technologies will further strengthen our market position. Additionally through Sheeraz we can build closer relationships with our partner network to further cement our presence in the MESA region.’
