Help support JoiningJack at Dubai Rugby Sevens
Published: MEA
UAE: Tannoy is encouraging people to support JoiningJack and get involved with the events the charity is hosting around the Emirates Airlines Dubai Rugby Sevens. The charity funds research into muscle wasting disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).
JoiningJack was set up by ex-Wigan Rugby player Andy Johnson and his wife Alex after their son Jack was diagnosed with the rare disease. With no current cure available, JoiningJack’s mission is to raise money to fund trials and research to find an effective set of treatments or cure for DMD. There is currently no cure for DMD, but for the first time ever, there are promising therapies in or moving into clinical development.
While JoiningJack is in Dubai for the Sevens, it will be hosting some events to help raise awareness and support.
Prior to the Sevens, the charity will host a BBQ at Media One Hotel and invites people to join the JJ Legends squad for food, drinks, conversation and a catch up on their hopes for the competition and the charity’s progress. The event takes place on Tuesday December 2nd from 7pm. Admittance will cost AED150 per person and tables of 10 can be reserved for AED3,000. To book, email bite@mediaonehotel.com or call 04 427 1000.
The second event is a late brunch at The Ivy on Wednesday December 3rd between 3pm and 6pm. Enjoy an afternoon in the company of Rugby’s all-time greats including Andrew Farrell, Martin Offiah, Gary Connolly, Kris Radlinski, Paul Sculthorpe and the rest of the JoiningJack legends team all in conversation with Ex Great Britain International and Sky Sports pundit Brian Carney. Tickets to this event are AED1,000 and the price includes a limited edition JoiningJack 2014 Legends polo shirt and unlimited house beverages for the afternoon. To book, email theivy.reservations@jumeirah.com or call 04 319 8767.
