Huge Dubai International Airport expansion uses Praesideo

UAE: The extension of Dubai International Airport – including Terminal 3 and Concourse 2 – has been fitted with a Bosch Praesideo-controlled system described by the manufacturer as ‘huge’.

According to Bosch, the size of the project required new working practices to be created on-site to cope with the design process plus logistics and shipment handling. The unique architecture of the airport also led to the participation of German company Rahe-Kraft, subcontracted to provide an optimal acoustic design which was subsequently proven during a successful trial period.

Included within the overall installation are a reported 120 active line arrays, 3500 ceiling speakers, 250 sound projectors and 400 XLA line arrays. Driving the system are more than 300 amplifiers networked with 125 CobraNet units in a single system controlled by 44 network controllers in a redundant configuration that is fully Evac compliant.

The central control of the system consists of a software application provided by the Building Information System (BIS) from Bosch. It takes care of central logging, redundancy handling, PC call-station functionality and interfacing to the automatic announcement system, as well as other airport systems such as the fire alarm, flight information and building management systems.
