IAA upgrades with Avid Everywhere

BAHRAIN: Government-owned broadcaster, Bahrain Information Affairs Authority (IAA), has upgraded to an HD news workflow using Avid Everywhere. The manufacturer’s MediaCentral Platform now underpins an upgraded end-to-end Avid solution. The project was handled by systems integrator, INC.
IAA has used Avid systems in its newsroom for many years. The broadcaster wanted to upgrade its legacy system to HD in order to take advantage of new technology and workflow efficiencies to improve the quality of its production. IAA also needed to minimise downtime and remain on air during the transition.
‘We trust Avid to provide the best solution for news production,’ said Eng. Abdulla Al-Balooshi, general director of technical and technology affairs at IAA. ‘Our key requirements were to fully deploy the latest production technologies available, while continuing to broadcast throughout.’
IAA installed an Interplay PAM with MediaCentral, with upgraded solutions from the Avid Media, Avid Artist and Avid Storage Suites. MediaCentral | UX provides the remote working that IAA required, with real-time access to production assets, metadata and iNEWS stories. Other equipment included an ISIS 7000 shared storage solution and the AirSpeed Multistream multichannel video server. Editing is handled by Media Composer | Software with Media Composer | NewsCutter Option. iNEWS and iNEWS Command are in use for news content creation, automation and playout.
