Ian Staddon joins DiGiCo as vice president of sales

WORLD: Ian Staddon – the former Studer vice president of sales – has taken on the same role for DiGiCo, declaring his ‘long term respect for what DiGiCo has achieved in such a short period of time’. The appointment follows the launch of the SD Rack last year and the reveal of the console manufacturer’s ambition to actively target the broadcast market.
One of the best known figures within the global broadcast console industry, Mr Staddon previously enjoyed a long and distinguished career at Harman Group, initially for Soundcraft, and more recently as VP sales for Studer. According to DiGiCo managing director James Gordon, Mr Staddon has long been considered an ideal fit for the company’s ongoing plans.
‘As DiGiCo has grown over the last few years, it was logical we would need to expand our sales expertise,’ Mr Gordon explained. ‘The hard part was to find the right person with the correct amount of experience and a passionate, driven personality. Fortunately, we were not under any time pressures, which allowed us to investigate all the options. All through the process Ian’s name kept coming up but, with a successful career at Studer, he kept being discounted.
‘When we launched the SD-Rack at Plasa, our broadcast aspirations were clear and Ian’s name came up again. Our approach happened to be perfectly timed – Ian was keen to pursue a new challenge.’
Speaking of his new role, Mr Staddon was enthusiastic regarding the brand he has adopted: ‘In our industry, it’s good to watch what others are doing. DiGiCo has always been an interesting company and, with the arrival of the SD Range and Stealth Digital Processing, you really couldn’t help but notice them. The SD-Rack combined with the SD7’s ability to have dual processing engines clearly indicated the direction the company was moving in. When the opportunity arose to join the DiGiCo team it was a big decision, but one I knew I had to take.’
The new vice president concluded: ‘This is an exciting opportunity to work with an independent company, grow the business even further in new and exciting directions and, hopefully, bring some additional ideas to the table.’
Mr Staddon will be in attendance with DiGiCo at the NAB show in Las Vegas, USA next week.
