InfoComm study highlights MEA A/V market growth

MEA: A study by InfoComm International has shown the Middle East and Africa’s A/V industry to be amongst the fastest growing in the world. According to the association, the industry is set to be worth US$4.6 billion by 2016, an annual growth rate of 13 per cent.
The figures are taken from InfoComm International’s 2014 Global AV Market Definition and Strategy Study. This study points to large infrastructure projects in the region such as the World Expo 2020 in Dubai and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as one of the driving forces behind the growth. According to the study, the UAE’s audiovisual market is projected to grow from US$700 million in 2012 to US$1.24 billion in 2016, making it the fastest-growing and second-largest in the Middle East.
In Dubai, World Expo 2020-related developments are currently driving demand for audiovisual solutions, especially in entertainment, venues, and events. Hotels and shopping centres are heavily investing in A/V solutions to enhance the visitor experience, as the region’s retail and hospitality sectors boom.
‘Boosted by Dubai, the Middle East and Africa region offers strong audiovisual market potential, thanks to strong investment, a young online population, and a low penetration of audiovisual adoption,’ said Richard Tan, executive director of InfoCommAsia, organiser of InfoComm MEA. ‘Audiovisual and IT are increasingly becoming integrated across the Middle East and Africa, with InfoComm MEA 2014 visitors are able to learn about how audiovisual technology is being used in various verticals, from entertainment to government.’
InfoComm MEA 2014 returns for a fourth year, from 13-16 October 2014, and will be co-located at Gitex Technology Week 2014 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
