K-Array blends in at the Park Bosphorus Hotel

TURKEY: Lotus Teknoloji has supplied a number of K-Array systems to cover various areas of the recently renovated Park Bosphorus Hotel in Istanbul. The brief for Lotus was to design the audio system for all the rooms, conference facilities, restaurants and outside terraces.

The main challenge for Lotus was working alongside the owners’ trusted interior designer who had already dismissed a number of audio products. ‘The designer was exceptionally keen to find a speaker that would not obtrude the marvellous architecture of the building and new features, but hard to please,’ recalled Lotus president Oktay Karaşoğlu.

To meet these needs, Lotus designed a system that could be discreetly installed at the hotel. The first stage of the re-design was the roof and restaurant which consisted of three areas: the banquet room, main restaurant and roof café.

In the banquet room, 16 KP102s and 36 KK52s were installed around the edge of the interior. These speakers were supported by eight KMT21s, 12 KF12MTs and a further eight KMT12 subwoofers. The team also installed 40 KAN 200 Anakonda speakers to fill around the pillars and curves of the room along with a three KR202 systems for a DJ set up, as well as optional speech and conference facilities. The whole room is powered by four KA84 Class-D amplifiers.

For the main restaurant, Lotus Teknoloji installed 64 KK50W speakers. These were accompanied by eight KMT12 subwoofers for low end and powered by three KA84s.

Finally for the roof café, 50 KAN200s were installed around the top edges of the walls so as not to obstruct the views of the city. The system here was supported by six KMT12s and a pair of KA84 amplifiers.

‘The reason why K-Array has been installed so often in Istanbul is the clear quality of sound in a compact size, it’s simple yet powerful,’ concluded Mr Karaşoğlu.
