Live Gigs Co-Operative AV buys EV line array

KENYA: Following a demonstration at Kenya Music Week by Audio Visual Engineering, Live Gigs Co-Operative AV has received the first Electro-Voice mid-sized line array system in Kenya.

Live Gigs Co-Operative is EV’s African concert sound partner. Its new system includes 12 XLC 127 DVX compact line array elements, a pair of Dx46 processors and six CP4000S amps. The amplifier and touring racks were supplied with Electro-Voice power and audio distribution panels.

Easy rigging and easy setup were reportedly two of the reasons for the acquisition, the other being the Electro-Voice Dx46. This IP-based DSP enables the user to control the complete system from front of house using wireless network protocols.

‘Electro-Voice systems have a great reputation worldwide,’ explained Tom Awando from Live Gigs Co-Operative AV. ‘We were in the market looking for a high quality mid-sized line array, and found the EV XLC’s size-to-power ratio tough to beat.’ Added to this was the local support in Kenya provided by Audio Visual Engineering. ‘This high level of local support and partnership was key to our decision, both in terms of technical and after-sales support,’ added Live Gigs’ Mohammed Shafiq.

A  second evaluation of the XLC was made during a meeting at the Prolight+Sound show in Frankfurt with Robert Hesse, vice president sales communication EMEA of Bosch Security Systems and managing director of EVI Audio GmbH, and Tony Sawyer, Electro-Voice technical support manager. ‘Live Gigs is extremely satisfied with the sound system’s performance thus far,’ commented Mr Sawyer.
