Marc Brunke launches new company

WORLD: Optocore founder, Marc Brunke, has opened a new company dedicated to digital video networking in the broadcast market. The new company, Broadcast Manufactur GMBH, has launched with a number of routing and repeater products targeted directly at this market.

‘A lot of customers asked us to do something, because there is really nothing existing in the market and we have all this experience with fibre,’ stated Mr Brunke. ‘We have 20 years experience, we know all about lasers and receivers and how to distribute and transport it. Video was just the logical step.’

Broadcast Manufactur is focused on its proprietary DiViNe (Digital Video Network) technology. DiViNe is designed to provide routing and repeating, as well as transport and distribution of multiple professional SDI video signals over fibre-based infrastructures. This is accomplished by WDM multiplexing/de-multiplexing, enabling multiple distribution through single fibre or coax cables.

‘We have been developing this for a couple of years – this is not something that can be done in a couple of months,’ explained Mr Brunke. ‘We found out that up to now it was not actually possible to build a proper system which isn’t inflexible and isn’t very expensive.’

The system itself can be constructed from a series of modules, which use building blocks to create a multiple channel distribution system with or without routing. The devices consist of Route66, Route33, Repeat66 and Repeat33 for flexible applications, and the Repeat48 as a standalone SDI to fibre converter with or without WDM multiplexers.

‘We can now give customers a tool that lets them create things differently,’ said the founder. ‘All the designers and consultants look at it and say it is unbelievable. They will start to design the infrastructure in a completely different way,’ he continued. ‘A lot of companies now will rethink the way their infrastructures are done.’
