Melody House to distribute DPA and HK Audio
Published: MEA
UAE: Melody House has taken on the distribution for DPA Microphones and HK Audio as part of a rebranding process that will see it move more into the pro audio sector to complement its MI roots. The move follows several reported conversations with manufacturers who are keen to establish their brands within the Middle Eastern markets.
The brand will now focus on two segments – MI and pro – but there will be a blurred line between the two areas. ‘HK Audio has two lines of products, concert sound and portable sound. The portable side will fit in well with our MI line, as will the musical instrument mics of DPA that will go hand-in-hand with our other products,’ said Melody House’s Greg Cargopoulos. ‘Then there are other products DPA make that target a completely different market such as broadcast and the corporate live sound market which gives us new sectors to explore.’
Melody House has brought in a strong team to go alongside the rebranding. Mr Cargopoulos has a long history as a live engineer in the concert sound market, and he has been joined by Wesley Fernandes who was formerly an audio technical engineer for Disney cruise ships. This is a key factor for Mr Cargopoulos, who describes himself as believing that ‘even though relationships are key to the business in this region, a distributor also needs to have the technical knowledge to back this up and provide support for its customers’.
To support the move, Melody House will have a new logo and a new website. Further to this it will be building its social networking presence.
The distributor already has product in stock from DPA and HK Audio, and is expecting to make further announcements soon about distribution agreements on both the MI and pro side.
