Middle East requests lead to new products from EM Acoustics

WORLD: UK-based manufacturer EM Acoustics has launched a number of self-powered cabinets as a result of requests from the Middle East. The manufacturer has been working with Dubai-based systems integrator Omnix for several projects and the need for powered enclosures became clear.
‘The self-powered speakers were something we’ve been thinking about for quite a long time but it was largely kicked off by an order going out to Qatar,’ explained EM Acoustics’ operations director Mike Wheeler. ‘We got the order at the end of November and then it was full steam ahead.’
The new self-powered range was launched as part of 13 new releases from the manufacturer at Pro Light + Sound in Frankfurt. All the new enclosures are self-powered versions of existing products and use the same amplifier and DSP package. Denoted by the suffix ‘SP’, so far they include: X3-SP, X3-DFSP downfill, MSE-218SP, MSE-156SP and MSE-159SP.
‘The reaction we’ve had to the self-powered units has been overwhelmingly positive,’ said Mr Wheeler. ‘It is the beginning of us offering more powered products.
‘We are extremely proud of our self-powered range,’ concluded Mr Wheeler. ‘We’ve managed to develop extremely high class products in a time frame that frankly defies belief, yet all the while remaining true to our values and our philosophy that passive technology continues to deliver better results, even in an environment where you cannot bypass the need for DSP. We believe that we’ve managed to combine the two for outstanding results.’
