MLA makes UAE debut for Jacksons concert

UAE: Martin Audio’s Multi-Cellular Loudspeaker Array (MLA) has been used for the first time in the UAE to cover the Jacksons’ Unity Tour performance in Abu Dhabi. The use of the system came as part of an agreement with the du Forum (the venue for the show) which will also be used to host an MLA demo by the manufacturer and its distributor VTi.
The concert called on an MLA system 36 including 22 MLA, 12 MLX, and two MLD programmed for stage lip-fill. According to the distributor, the MLA ‘proved itself in what is a very challenging acoustic space’.
The system was rigged by local production house Almoe AV Rentals. Almoe also provided the FOH and monitoring system for the concert. All monitors were Martin Audio LE1200 and 1500, with W8LM as side-fills. Other equipment used for the show included an Avid Venue console, Sennheiser EW300 G3 in-ear monitors, a comprehensive mic package from Shure and AKG and a Clear-Com Tempest comms system.
Following the concert, the distributor stated: ‘MLA is facing great proven success worldwide, VTi is expecting the same success in the Middle East over the next 12 months.’
