New gear for Gary Barlow

UAE: Gary Barlow recently made his solo debut in Dubai in front of a 9,000-strong crowd at the Media City Amphitheatre. The event was promoted by Louder Entertainment, and called on equipment from eclipse Staging Services and Delta Sound.

‘There was a lot of new lighting equipment on this show and it was a great showcase for it,’ said eclipse project manager Tom Ralston. ‘eclipse was among the first in the world to purchase the new Clay Paky SuperSharpys and so it was great to use them for the first time on this show.

‘We used 20 SuperSharpys on the rig, set out in two lines of 10 on the stage deck below each IMAG,’ continued Mr Ralston. ‘These gave some great aerial effects, especially in the opening VT sequence. Our other new products were the Clay Paky B-Eye K10s and K20s. The K10s were used in the floor package, whilst the K20s were rigged off the two upstage trusses.

For the visual package, there were five mains screens and one set riser screen. ‘All of the screens were made from our ROE 9mm screen panels, each in a 10x6 panel configuration,’ said Mr Ralston. ‘Two of the screens were used as the side IMAGs, whilst the three main stage screens and riser screen ran the show visuals. The media servers were two Hippotizer HD servers, programmed and triggered by a GrandMA2 Lite.’

On the audio side, Delta supplied a 12 per side L-Acoustics K1 main PA plus three of the manufacturer’s Kara cabinets per side as downfill. Low end was handled by K1 Subs along with L-Acoustics SB28s. Outfills to cover the width of the venue was taken handled by a 12 per side V-Dosc hang.

Power for the system was via L-Acoustics LA8 amplifiers controlled with LA Network Manager while signal processing was handled by Meyer Sound Galileo 616 units. The show was mixed using a pair of DiGiCo SD7s.
