New MD for Marquis Broadcast

WORLD: Marquis Broadcast has named Chris Steele as its new managing director. He rejoins the company after 15 months as senior product manager at Quantel and will replace current MD, Peter Davis, who moves on to become chairman. Marquis and Quantel previously formed a strategic partnership in late 2012.

‘Chris Steele’s appointment is part of a package of investment into Marquis which is designed to support our channel and enable the business to continue expanding,’ commented Mr Davies. ‘We are delighted to welcome Chris back. With his background in the original design of some of our leading solutions, including Project Parking and X2Pro, he is the ideal fit to help take Marquis to the next level by addressing and taking advantage of existing and future sector trends.’

Mr Steele possesses a wealth of experience, having previously worked for organisations including Digital Vision AB and The Foundry, in addition to eight years as co-founder and director of Parallax Software Ltd. He also started the 2D3 and took Boujou, an Emmy award winning automated camera tracker, to market.

‘I have a great deal of respect for the skills and experience of the team at Marquis and I am looking forward to developing a long-term vision for the company,’ confirmed Mr Steele. ‘There will be many opportunities as we move into the brave new world of IP production and Marquis is well placed to supply the necessary solutions to help integrate the multi-vendor streaming workflows of the modern broadcast world.’
