Opening Taiga

UAE: Procom ME was recently called in to supply and install audio, video and lighting systems into the new Taiga Dubai nightclub at the Radisson Blu Downtown. The venue opened at the start of December 2014 with a party headlined by Lebanese pop star Naji Osta.
The club offers several different styles of music, including R&B, house, Arabic and dance as well as featuring live performances. As such it required a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system that would live up to the name the club has developed in Beirut.
The club’s design looks to the Lebanese original for its inspiration. Staying true to the arched wall architecture of Taiga Beirut, Taiga Dubai studded its curved walls with an LED wall of more than 10,000 DMX-controlled RGB LED pin lights. This was assembled by the Procom team on site. Added to this is a 20 sq-m curved LED screen in the middle to offer guests the full visual experience.
The venue’s lighting system consists of more than a dozen Cyclops Lighting moving heads including the moving beam CL200B and the RGBWA LED wash CPX91-MZ along with stroboscopes. The lighting is controlled by an Avolites Tiger Touch II lighting console complete with 10 pageable playbacks and 10 static playbacks. Procom also installed a Philips Strand six pack dimmer with fan free convection cooling system. The lighting system is carried on 30m of black Eurotruss FD series aluminium trusses secured across the venue’s ceiling. The Martin Audio Blackline Series sound system for the venue was a specific request from the owner.
‘The Procom team delivered the job with a high level of technical knowledge and they were very cooperative and worked around the clock to deliver the venue without compromising on the end result,’ said Emile Barbary, owner of Taiga.
