Pier 7 turns to Inspired Audio

LEBANON: Pier 7 in Beirut has opened its doors for the five month summer run after a multi-million dollar winter refit, including a full Inspired Audio sound system.

Specified in collaboration with Fouad Bechwati from Beirut based 21 dB acoustic consultants, the resultant system is flown from a central truss area to include four hangs each consisting of six Optima 8 array speakers, that have been supplemented by eight B215 and eight SB218 subwoofers. A further four SB218 have been ground stacked and the venues stage includes a further four ground stacked Optima 8 cabinets on a pair of B215 subwoofers.

The system control and alignment is catered for by networked eFlex Q5 system amplifiers, all under direct software control. Inspired’s local dealer Transorient Services supplied this system under the guidance of Milad Massaad, with technical support from Georges Nasser, who also manages the system during the summer.

‘Having looked after the sound at Beirut’s Music Hall, which has probably been the best known live sound venue in the Middle East for the last few years, it was great to get involved in a dance project and show that array speakers can cross over into dance successfully,’ commented Inspired Audio’s head of design Chris Scott. ‘We have a very happy acoustician in Fouad from 21 dB, who was a pleasure to work with, and surpassed the expectations of the client Mazen El Zein from the Crystal Group. Pier 7 now has a premium sound to go with its position of Beirut’s premium club.’
