Prosound celebrates success in South Africa

SOUTH AFRICA: Prosound has recently had two notable successes in the rental and sales sides of its business.

On the rental side, the company was involved at five venues for the recent ANC Centenary celebrations providing sound, staging and lighting at various events. It supplied a Prolyte Stage, lighting and an Electro-Voice XLC sound system for the Cultural festival held at the Outdoor Sports Complex in Mangaung Township. Later proceedings started at Waaihoek Wesleyan Church where the company provided an EV SSX 300 system for the church, and the VIP marquee was supplied with EV Boxes.

The following day, celebrations moved to Bloemfontein’s Free State stadium, the neighbouring athletic and cricket stadiums and the park at Loch Logan. The Athletics stadium’s staging and video screens were supplied by Prosound and DJs performed behind a combination of EV Xi and EV Phoenix systems and five delays. The cricket stadium’s staging, lighting, sound and screens were also a production of Prosound, and also featured local South African artists. Loch Logan saw Prosound’s implementation of the Midas Pro9 and Pro2 for the host of bands on offer for the day. In the afternoon Prosound provided a live satellite feed from the main event in the rugby stadium. This feed was sent to the screens at Loch Logan, Athletics and Cricket Stadia.

On the sales side, Prosound has found success with two high profile theatres both opting for new Midas desks. The first of these two contracts was Artscape in Cape Town, with its need to update the mixing consoles in its Opera House and Theatre. Prosound met the specification needs of Artscape with two Midas Pro 9 digital mixers. The second of these two tenders was Durban’s premier theatre The Playhouse Company. For this project, the distributer suggested a Midas Pro9 and Pro2. Playhouse felt the right product for its Opera House was the Pro9 series, and opted for a smaller Pro2 series in its Drama Theatre.

Both Artscape and Playhouse also decided to go with the Klark Teknik DN9696 as an add-on to their Pro9 consoles. After Artscape’s decision to tender for mixing consoles, it also opted to look for dimmers too. Yet again Prosound won the deal with an ETC solution.
