Prosound supports Sunset Boulevard

SOUTH AFRICA: Prosound has provided the sound design and audio equipment for Pieter Toerien’s production of Sunset Boulevard. The production at the Montecasino Theatre in Johannesburg features a familiar creative team from past musical shows including director Paul Warrick Griffiths, musical director Charl Johan Lingenfelder and Prosound’s Mark Malherbe as sound designer.

In terms of sound equipment, Prosound has supplied speakers from Meyer Sound and mics from DPA. Sunset Boulevard has been equipped with a dual rig of Meyer Sound M1D compact line array loudspeaker systems. The primary system is a left/right hang to cover the auditorium. Discrete single units have been built into the set to provide cast monitoring as well as acting as a point source for the band origination.

For microphones, the cast have been supplied with hidden DPA 4061 omnidirectional capsules.

On the visual side, a High End Systems DL.3 digital light projector has been put to use for the production. The DL.3 fixture merges video projection and automated lighting technologies with a DMX controllable digital media server housed in a moving yoke fixture.
