Prosound takes on Furman and Omnimount

SOUTH AFRICA: Prosound has taken on the distribution for Furman and Omnimount in South Africa. The company used the Meditech Africa show to introduce its new products to the market.
‘We don’t like taking things on unless we can do them justice,’ explained head systems engineer Grant Scott. ‘We do a lot of fixed installs and the Furman units fit perfectly. We took the decision to take it on and we hope it grows from strength to strength.’
Prosound is planning to target the install market as well as rental companies with Furman. ‘We do quite a bit of export up into Africa where proper power conditioners are required when you’re running generators and power is unstable. It fits in really well with what we do,’ said Mr Scott.
The Omnimount distribution is a new direction for Prosound. ‘The brackets and all the bits that Omnimount do are a little bit foreign to us. But it is such a superb product,’ said Mr Scott. ‘It’s something that we’ve just taken on and we hope to grow it from strength to strength. Obviously being at Mediatech has given it some exposure and the reaction has been very good,’ he continued. ‘We’ve used Omnimount for all the screens that have been put up on our stand and it’s worked nicely. Hopefully we can ride on that and really get going.’
‘Making sure the people who are doing the distribution are technically capable of supporting it and selling it properly is very important,’ added Julian Young, who was representing both brands at the show. ‘For Furman in particular, our strengths have been the A/V install market and touring in Europe, and it makes perfect sense.’
