Pulse adds the atmosphere to Lock, Stock and Barrel

UAE: Nestled within Dubai’s Grand Millennium Hotel, the Lock, Stock and Barrel (LS&B) bar has been treated to a new live sound reinforcement system courtesy of TW Audio loudspeakers and systems integrator, Pulse ME LLC. Located on the eighth and ninth floor, the 800 sq-m venue snubs the typical glitz and glamour of Dubai in favour of a more industrial feel with an open door policy and a laid-back attitude.

The bar’s focus is on live music and sports events, as evidenced by the big video screens adorning the walls. The lively atmosphere is amplified further by a pair of the German manufacturer’s T24N cabinets on either side of the stage, and numerous other models for complete coverage.

‘It was so different to do the installation in LS&B compared to all the other clubs we have done so far,’ explained Joe Chidiac, managing partner at Pulse. ‘The layout of the location is very unusual for Dubai. No glamour, no plush sofas, but raw container walls, brick walls, everything very industrial, yet colourful with a cool atmosphere. So rather than having to deal with heavy fabrics and furnishings that tend to swallow any sound, we had to come to terms with a lot of reflective walls. It showed us again the importance of understanding the acoustical environment.

‘We chose a combination of loudspeakers to suit the club’s needs, taking into consideration that there are a lot of bands playing live on a regular basis,’ he added. ‘As the main PA for the live stage we used TW Audio’s unique T24N, one on each side. To cover the entire venue, an additional 10 M12, two M10 and eight M8 were installed. As subwoofers we took six B18, five B15, and a B30. The whole system is powered by 11 Powersoft amplifiers.’

Following the installation, the bar was voted Best New Nightlife Venue 2016 at TimeOut Dubai’s Dubai Music and Nightlife Awards.
