Pulse Middle East equips Republique club

UAE: Pulse Middle East LLC recently supplied, designed, integrated and engineered a complete A/V and lighting system into the ‘retro-style’ Republique club, located within the Dubai Mall Hotel.
After considering many brands for the audio side of the install, Pulse ME took into account the venue’s control room space and power consumption, before finally opting for QSC’s K Series. ‘They suited the project 100% – complying with the technical specification, sound quality and the agreed budget’, stated Pulse ME’s Joe Chidiac, the audio designer for the project.
The installation took approximately one week to complete, and comprised 20 K-12 active loudspeakers, two K-10 active PA speakers, seven KW181 PA speakers, and one K-Sub from QSC, as well as a BSS Blu 100 processing system, four CDJ 2000 DJ decks, and a DJM900 mixer controller from Pioneer.
Meanwhile, the lighting equipment set-up (designed by Pulse ME’s Rami Haber) comprised four Robe 575w XT Elite scanners, eight Acme LED PAR RGBW 36Ws, 10 Acme InvincibLED effects disco lights, and four Pulsar ARIII Tri-Colour lights. For the visual side of the install, two Christie 5000 lumens projectors and an Axon media server were chosen, and additional equipment comprised a custom made motorised disco ball, and cables from Belden.
‘Originally, the venue was only intended to become a lounge bar,’ explained Mr Chidiac. ‘So we were limited in the installation with regards to access to cabling, and we couldn’t get a full access to the ceiling or the floors. However, the K-Series self-powered cabinets gave us the freedom to integrate the system in the design we wanted.
‘We had a short period of two weeks to make the whole project happen, because the hotel didn’t want to shut the venue for a long period of time,’ furthered Mr Chidiac. ‘After finalising the design, much preparation was done off-site, so when we got the green light to start work on-site, a fully briefed team was ready to achieve the target. After the material was delivered, it took us one week to install and commission the audio-visual and lighting system,’ he added proudly.
Speaking about the challenges the team faced during the project, Mr Chidiac continued: ‘We had to isolate the venue’s three zones (the main club, the balcony, and the lounge area) from each other, without any sound proofing. We also had to keep in mind that the ground floor and the first floor each play different types of music, which must not interfere with each other. We solved this problem by distributing the speaker cabinets and angling them in the right way, ensuring we didn’t create any delay in between.’
‘I was very confident that Joe Chidiac and Rami Haber would deliver the best for Republique,’ said Samer Hamadeh, owner of the club. ‘The company has had many successful and unique projects in the region, and I’m so happy that my club installation was a success, and that it was done by such a successful team,’ he enthused.
