Qvision covers Eid and Al Jazeera celebrations

QATAR: Qatar Vision Production Company (Qvision) has recently covered two high profile celebrations in Doha. The first was Al Jazeera’s 15th anniversary event, which was followed by the Eid festivities in Katara Cultural Village.
For the Al Jazeera event, Qvision created a space similar to the inside of a newsroom using projection. ‘The event was created more like a broadcast event – the importance for the channel was to take the anniversary and broadcast it,’ explained Qvision managing director Sharif Hashisho. ‘The main attraction was the content of the event. Working on that content was very nice for us.’
For projection, the production company turned to Christie with the addition of a large LED screen behind the main stage. For the audio, Qvision opted for a Meyer Sound setup. ‘This was the first time we have worked with Al Jazeera and everyone said it went very well,’ said Mr Hashisho. ‘Things were extremely smooth from the day we went inside the venue until the entire show was completed.’
The second event saw the company given just a week to create a multimedia show about the development of Qatar for the Eid celebrations at the Katara Cultural Village. ‘The challenge was the time,’ said Mr Hashisho. ‘It was a show that consisted of 100m music and water fountains in the sea, two 15x25m water screens, six lasers and we had to cover the entire bay area with a full sound and lighting system. In addition to this there were musically-synchronised fireworks.’
Sound for the show came from a Meyer Sound Milo 120 system. ‘We had different clusters spread around the entire bay,’ recalled the managing director. ‘Each cluster consisted of five Milos and two MH700s. With the 120 you are able to cover a very large area.’
