RedEye uses Nexo for string of events

UAE: Dubai-based Red Eye Productions has used its latest asset for a string of recent events. The event and film services company has deployed its Nexo Geo 12 system for the Hercules challenge team strategy event at the Dubai Sevens, Meydan Gala Dinner, Dubai Excellence Awards and Sharjah Excellence Awards as well as the featured launch of Wadi Adventure Water Park in Al Ain.
The biggest test for the Geo 12 came at the launch of Wadi Adventure. ‘As we were the creative and technical suppliers for the show I decided nervously to put the system in the water, so it got a proper soak test,’ explained RedEye managing director Nick Chapman. ‘I built three platforms in the surf pool and used the outside two for the video and PA wings and the centre for speeches. As the PA was low to the ground and there was no chance of flying, I stuck with all 1210s to get the throw and directivity rather than risking bouncing off the water,’ continued Mr Chapman. ‘The result was excellent and we had a very nice even coverage of the surf pool area and for once actually had to turn the podium presentations down. I am particularly impressed with the even dispersion and the seamless response that exists between the 12 inch woofers in the 1210 and 1230 models and the 18- inch subwoofers. There’s a real natural curve between the sub and low mid. It’s virtually a plug and play system, in which I don’t really need any equalisation.’
For the show, RedEye used 10 1210s with four of the manufacturer’s hypercardioid twin 18 subs, powered by two Nexo NX 4x4 amp-processors and mixed on the company’s new DiGiCo SD11. ‘The extremely small and rack mountable SD 11 has a massive on board inventory, which minimises set up times. We also used all our of new Litec self-winding towers for various lighting and effects, which can support up to 6.5m in height. I must say all of the shows have run very smoothly. Furthermore, my new Nexo system is now nice and clean after its pool trial!’
