Reference Laboratory holds Iranian workshop

IRAN: Italian cable specialist, Reference Laboratory, recently hosted a workshop in Iran. The event was organised by the manufacturer’s exclusive local distributor, Mobin Sout, and attracted around 20 attendees from various sectors of the Iranian market.

‘We covered how to improve sound quality, starting from choosing the right cable for an application and then selecting the correct microphone for the source,’ explained Reference Laboratory’s Angelo Tordini. ‘We did it to promote and to educate as usually this area doesn’t receive enough attention. When people choose which equipment to install, the cable is price oriented and microphone is brand oriented. A recording studio, for example, must start its investment from the cable setup if the goal is recording great sound, and this choice must not be led by low price as low price means low technology.’

The prerequisite to attend the training was the ability to give high attention to listening, as this is the main skill required to understand and hear the impact that a balanced/unbalanced/power cable can have on the sound. The seminar provided attendees the opportunity to do direct comparisons between four major cable brands and five major microphone brands using the same source, flat channel and gain. It attracted participation from live sound professionals, broadcast engineers, recording studios, system designers, acousticians and engineers.

The manufacturer was very pleased with how the seminar went and believes Mobin Sout’s potential strategy could raise Reference Laboratory’s position in the Iranian market in the near future.
