Retail business good for Emirates Entertainment

UAE: Dubai-based Emirates Entertainment has recently completed a number of installation projects in the retail sector. The projects have all been for BGM systems in new stores and have each used equipment from different manufacturers.
The first project was for the new Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids combination store in the Dubai Mall. For this project Emirates Entertainment installed 107 Tannoy CVS6 ceiling flush speakers, a Lab.gruppen C28-4 amplifier, a Peavey Digitool processor and Peavey remote volume controls allowing for the volume to be dropped during prayer time. The Peavey processor has been configured to allow for the fire integration unit to mute the system in case of emergency. Emirates Entertainment was keen to highlight the support it received from Tannoy Middle East for this project.
Another store in the Dubai Mall to be fitted out by the company is American Eagle. The design for the outlet incorporated a number of different speaker models. ‘We installed JBL Contol24CTs for the mid/highs , Control19s for the lows, Bose Freespace 3 Acoustimass bass for a separate section, Freespace 3 Satellite ceiling flush speakers and QSC AD-C42T,’ explained Emirates Entertainment’s Ric Fearnett. ‘These are fed from a Crown CTS8200 amp and a DBX1260 processor with a number of ZC1 volume controllers and a fire interface in case of emergency,’ he continued. ‘Most of the processor configurations were done off site by our friends at GSL in Deira, who then helped me onsite with the final tuning.’
Emirates Entertainment turned to different brands again for its project at a new Pot Belly sandwich restaurant. In this installation it used a collection of Speaker Craft ceiling flush speakers with added transformers, an Australian Monitor AMIS250 amp allowing for IFU shutoff and an additional mini mixer on a small stage to allow for musicians to play for the customers. ‘We’re also integrating an Australian Monitor MYMTCD CD/Tuner/USB player that works really well as a music source,’ added Mr Fearnett.
Away from the retail sector, the company has also been involved with the new reception area at the Crowne Plaza in Abu Dhabi which has been relocated from the first to the ground floor. This is an ongoing three-phase project which is currently moving into its final phase. ‘Phase two is now complete with a standard JBL Control24CT ceiling flush system and a Crown 660a multichannel amp to allow zoning volume controls,’ explained Mr Fearnett. ‘Stage three is just the addition of extra speakers to the system.’
