Sake No Hana opens with Tannoy

UAE: Japanese lounge bar/restaurant, Sake No Hana, has opened in Dubai’s Souk al Bahar with a sound system from Tannoy. The sound system installation was completed by freelance sound engineer, Jun Bleza.
It was a three months project to renovate the old Mirai lounge bar into the new exclusive Japanese restaurant/lounge with the A/V work taking place in the final month of the project. Mr Bleza coordinated the cable pulling and other civil works with construction firm Decoline.
The installed system relies heavily on equipment from Tannoy VXP series speakers. Eight VXP 12s have been used for the main tops, while a further 16 VXP 8s are used as satellites. Low end is catered for with eight Tannoy PowerVS 15 BP, and a further seven Archi-Tettura Sonora Shark subs flown in the lounge area.
The DJ booth features three Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus’, a DJM 2000 Nexus and a Rane Serrato 4. DJ monitors are again from Tannoy, with two VXP 12s and a pair of PowerVS subs.
The system is zoned using three Tannoy Vnet SC1 units and equalised with BSS Blu-160 and Blu-120 processors. ‘Since the venue is split into restaurant and lounge, we have to secure eight independent zones using the Tannoy Vnet SC1,’ explained Mr Bleza. ‘We did the equalisation using the BSS Blu-160 and Blu-120 which gave us great results.’
Mr Bleza points to this as one of the major challenges of the project. ‘We needed to achieve independent volume control plus the proper equalisation to have even sound for both the restaurant and the lounge,’ he explained. ‘Another challenge is the volume in each area; it differs when it shifts into the evening. This is when DJ starts to raise the volume in the lounge area. All this was done smoothly using the BSS Blu 160 and 120 Soundweb, plus we utilised the three units of Tannoy Vnet SC1. The BSS processors were used to equalise the main speakers and the different zones; the Vnets were used as volume control and mute buttons for each zone.’
With the restaurant now open, Mr Bleza is clearly satisfied with the finished venue. ‘The owner, myself plus our clients are all happy with the end result. They informed us that we have pristine and even sound all over and they can talk, socialise even when the lounge shift into high gear,’ he smiled. ‘Our current in house DJs are also quite happy with their gear.
‘Since we have had nothing but positive feedback from the clients, I believe it will help the venue to be on par with Sake No Hana London if not better.’
