SampB builds custom FaitalPro system for South African events

SOUTH AFRICA: Cape Town’s S&B Custom Sound built a system for a number of recent events in South Africa including the Red Bull Maximum Signal Music Academy world tour. The audio solution relies exclusively on FaitalPro loudspeakers.
‘The system was made up of four horn loaded cabinets for the mid frequencies, some very powerful cabinets with five drivers each for the mid and high frequencies plus eight hybrid double 18-inch subwoofers,’ explained S&B co-owner Clint Senger. ‘Put these speakers together with the right amplification and you end up with a high power system that hits around 40kW. The complete system was let loose for the first time at the recent Cape Town Earth event, and was put to good use in other similar events all around the country.’
S&B were contacted by the Red Bull team to see if it still made custom sound systems. With the positive answer, it was commissioned to build one for the tour. ‘We built eight cabinets loaded with 18-inch 18HP1040 double woofers, hybrid horn loaded subwoofers and four cabinets including a 12-inch 12PR300 and double 8-inch 8PR200 drivers as well as a completely horn loaded 1.4-inch HF144 driver just for high frequencies,’ said Mr Senger.
‘We use the FaitalPRO HF144 driver for its ketone Polymer diaphragm, power and resonance and the entire system is driven by 40kW of total power, managed by the legendary MC2 amplifiers with BSS processing,’ he continued. ‘All of the cabinets are built here with CNC machines and assembled by Swiss craftsmen.’
The use of FaitalPro components hasn’t stopped with this system. ‘Our new projects are some full range enclosures for installation, that make use of the recent 4FE32 4-inch loudspeakers, in close correlation to other 6-inch 6FE200 drivers,’ confirmed Mr Senger. ‘Then another cabinet suited for clubs and discos, and a long range sub that employs an 18-inch 18HP1040 woofer.’
