S&V Megasound specifies RCF for Hard Rock

CYPRUS: S&V Megasound was recently selected to develop the A/V infrastructure for the Hard Rock Café in Nicosia. The RCF distributor was tasked with providing a sound reinforcement solution that could cover live and club performances in addition to serving as background music across the venue’s three functional floors.
The ground floor, which contains a 250-capacity main restaurant, also hosts the main stage area. However on band nights the restaurant transforms into a rock venue with a standing capacity of around 500 people.
To provide even coverage, S&V Megasound specified four flown RCF HDL 20-A speakers with a pair of HDL 18-AS boxes for low end. The installer’s FOH sound engineer ensured the sound was optimised from an iPad-controlled mixing desk, while the bands themselves use myMix in ear monitors.
In-filling around the periphery of the large restaurant are four RCF C3108 two-way loudspeakers, alongside various flat screens. S&V Megasound installed 10 MQ80P IP65-rated weatherproof speakers outside the restaurant on the ground floor.
The first floor is for multipurpose use, such as dining, private parties and conferences, and for this the installer specified four versatile Acustica C3108 wide dispersion speakers and a powered Sub705AS 15-inch subwoofer, with further MQ80Ps on the veranda area.
Meanwhile, for the roof garden S&V Megasound specified six P3108 weatherproof speakers and three S4012 passive subwoofers. ‘This provides the ultimate for an open roof clubbing experience,’ said S&V Megasound MD, Stelios Petrides.
The system offers a number of routing and processing options throughout the venue, with individual zone control. This gives each space its own local source, volume and preset control, depending on the mood and atmosphere required.
‘The sound system has been a huge success ever since the first performance,’ enthused Mr Petrides. ‘This was one of our biggest projects in 2012 – and was certainly a very complex one. It gave us the chance to test our capabilities to a whole different level — and the end result is amazing!’
